FOREWORDS | Sigmar Gabriel 4 G ermany’s educational community has a lot to offer. People in other countries are particularly interested in our system of voca- tional training. Many countries are suffering from high levels of youth unemployment – a problem that in some cases has gotten much worse as a result of the economic and financial crisis. One reason why youth unemployment is relatively low in Germany is the existence of our “dual” vocational training system and the needs-based and practical skills it delivers. More and more countries are coming to realise that an effective education and training system is the key to opening up career prospects for young people. This is resulting in growing international demand for high-quality education services. German training providers are extremely well-placed to meet this need. Education and training concepts from Germany stand for top quality and innovative advances, as you can see from this second edition of the Export Catalogue “Education Solutions – Made in Germany”. The export of education and training services has become an important part of Germany’s education sector and it particularly benefits the coun- tries buying into these services. Countries which build up or expand their educational structures will have stronger and more successful economies in the long term. So the export of German education and training services is a classic win-win situation, and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is delighted to be able to give it its backing. I wish the German education community and Didacta Association continu- ing success and good fortune in their future work.
